Istanbul's food scene is one of the richest in the world, but the best spots are the ones you would never find on your own. This tour is led by a local food writer who knows every hidden kitchen, street cart, and family bakery worth visiting.
You will start on the European side with a fresh simit from a street vendor, move on to a tiny balik ekmek stand by the Galata Bridge, and work your way through a meze spread at a local meyhane. Then you will cross to the Asian side by ferry for the afternoon, which is an experience in itself.
On the Asian side you will visit the Kadikoy market, try local cheeses and olives, and finish with Turkish coffee and kunefe at a dessert shop that has been running for three generations. You will not be hungry for at least two days after this tour.
