Cappadocia Valley Hike & Cave Tour

Cappadocia is famous for the balloon rides but the valleys are where the real magic is. This walking tour takes you through Rose Valley and into hidden cave churches that still have centuries-old frescoes on the walls. It is surreal seeing Byzantine art preserved inside rock formations.

The hike is easy to moderate and your guide sets a comfortable pace with lots of stops to explain the geology and history. You will learn how the fairy chimneys were formed, why people carved homes into the rock, and how early Christians used these caves as secret churches.

The day finishes in the town of Avanos, which has been a pottery centre for thousands of years. You will watch a local potter demonstrate their craft and get a chance to try the wheel yourself. It is harder than it looks but that is part of the fun.
